MATT Gilks believes he is in the form of his life – but he doesn’t want it to go to waste.

The Pool keeper has made countless fine saves this term and even in defeat at Peterborough last week, pulled off some terrific stops.

He just hopes his efforts aren’t in vain. Gilks said: “Everyone at the club wants to get promoted and that is what we have been working towards.

“We need to stick together and get on another run because we don’t want to throw away all the hard work that has got us into this position.

“I probably want to get back to the Premier League more than most because I did my knee last season and missed a big chunk of the year.

“It was a horrible time – the toughest six months I’ve ever had as a human being, let alone a footballer – so it is why I’d love to get back up there.

“But it won’t be easy because the Championship is so good. All we can do is concentrate on our individual roles, and for me that is making saves and trying to give the team a good base to win games.

“I’m having the most consistent time I’ve had in my career. When you’re young you just play on adrenaline, and as you get older you have to get by with how good you are. I’m bringing that consistency to my game now.

Don't worry Matt, you weren't alone - watching Dickie Kingson in the nets was pretty depressing for us as well.
Get out of the media and get your head down and help get us promoted. Likes to get his name out there too much.
I actually thought Kingson wasnt that bad

He made a few mistakes but also made some top draw saves

But what do i know :)
I doubt there were many third choice keepers better in the squads of our rivals.

Kurt, the reason he wants to get his name out there is because he wants out of the club so as to earn more for his undoubted talents. If he hadn't got injured he'd be hanging around the training facilities of Arsenal as thrid choice keeper, and still making twice as much as he is earning now at Blackpool. Gilks wages in the Prem were an absolute embarrasment.
Blimey, forgot about Kingson. The question is, would we have been relegated if Gilks played a full season?

I don't think so. Although our fall from grace was massive, it wasnt just the fault of one guy. Opposition teams worked us out, KO messed up the window, referee's hated us etc.
come off your line more , you would be a world beater my son . lol
