How much is BFC worth?

Interesting debate on t'other site about how much our club is actually worth.

When you take into account the stadium (which I don't think we own), the playing squad and training ground I'd say it's not a lot.

Some people quoting £100m!

There is no way that we are worth 100 million. I'd say about 35-50 million at most.

Depends what you mean by "our club".

There are several legal entities and to be completely free of the Oystons you'd need to buy them all or suffer for all eternity.

Liverpool was around £300m, the figures being quoted for the Southampton takeover are around £170m.

If you consider Southampton have say £50m worth of saleable players and their own stadium as well as a state of the art training complex and are currently a premier league club...

We are worth only what? 10-20 million? No ground, no land worth shouting about, Championship/L1 status, a few mil in player assets...

If everything was in the club's hands (ground, hotel etc) then a fair few bob more. Anyone who would buy the club from the Oystons without getting the deeds to the ground etc. would be mental.

Difficult question for the reasons Cheesy says. Difficult to know who owns what. My initial thought was £50 million but that's just a wild guess!

BFC owns fuck all, so is worth the combined value of the players!
RE: How much is BFC worth?
By whitstabletangerine 4 years ago
Well there is £9million due next season for the last parachute payment

The squad £2million on a good day.

The training ground, limited use so no more than £500,000

what else is there, Bloomfield road belongs to some other company, within the empire.

A championship name £......

£20million top whack.

New owner would have to probably sign a tenancy agreement for Bloomfield road at £200,000 per game for so many years, with no option to take the club to a new home. The current owners would say the fans would not hear of any move elsewhere.

Our only options if we're to be free of the Oystons:

- They sell the lot (unlikely as they'll command a massive asking price and effectively price this option out completely)

- They sell just the football part of the business (unlikely due to the O's reputation and potential investors would be unwilling to do business with them)*

- We fuck them off completely and go down the FC United route

*Only way this might work would be if someone was willing to build a new ground etc. and relocate the club.

Edit - agree the O's would probably demand an agreement to not relocate the club.

You would buy the name and then rent everything else from Zabaxe.
RE: How much is BFC worth?

... and there's our problem.

Who would want to do business with the parasites for a sustained period of time?

The net result of all this of course is that they win. That's it, check mate as they say.

Unless we can organise some form of meaningful, effective protest and force either a change in policies, or a change in ownership entirely, we're screwed.

Then again, even if protests are successful and the O's look to sell, we're back to the problems above.

Buy squad, rent stadium whilst a new ground is being built. Bloomfield Road's history is the only downside to relocating.

The positive would be getting rid of the parasites.

IMO I think the Oyston's would only sell the football side if the stadium was sold too therefore the price would be massive!

Don't see that, the stadium/hotel is the pension plan if they sell the club and make the new owners rent the stadium at £200,000 per game they have a minimum income per annum of £4.5 MILLION not a bad return for some seats and patch of grass and a few staff.

Nobody in the right mind will pay that, cheaper to relocate and rebuild.

By all accounts the club already does. Is it any wonder our playing budget is so small when forking out around £5m a year in ground rent. 12,000 season tickets at £200 is only £2.4m. Add on other sundry costs like policing, stewards etc and you are looking at a healthy loss each year just to play our home games.

That could be offset by concessions sales... Sorry, oyston-owned separate company. No money goes to BFC Ltd.

The whole setup is a farce designed to milk as much as possible from the asset.

This. Absolutely bob on Cheesey. It is a disgrace. I am considering my options on whether to vote with my feet or stick with it. I am sick of the parasites. Would take Ince going for now.

Regardless of how much it's worth, koko would only accept a figure well in excess of the potential earnings for as long as he intended to run the club... anyone know when koko is gonna get bored?

We are basically in the situation where the only way out of this whole bloody mess is a multibillionaire coming from no where and offering koko WAAAAAY over the odds for the club... any of you lot think that's likely?

Maybe there's an Arab fella who used to take his holidays here way back when. Nostalgia and all that.

Would the fans ever consider a FC United approach? Would there ever be enough take up for it to work?

It may be the only way we'll ever be rid of the parasites.

Depends how far down the league we slipped.

You wouldn't need to turn your back on the badge really as it is the towns crest and is not copyrighted by BFC. (Only the part which states Blackpool Football Club basically will be copyrighted)

All the other small fylde teams aren't anything to do with BFC or its ongoings, an FC United approach would be directly from the fans.

Overall I agree with you, I want my BFC to feel like my BFC again. Currently nothing could be further from the truth.

I honestly believe the O's are happy for us to end up back in league two and hope to sell for well over the top because of the "prime land" excuse.
RE: How much is BFC worth?

I thought that Koko owned the land that the ground is built on therefore he must own everything. So if that is true there is nothing stopping him waiting till the end of next season, selling the land, bulldozing the ground and building houses on it and making more money from the sale of the houses. That way he can get the fans off his back.

I really don't get that argument (and it seems to come up quite a lot). Bloomfield Road is the exact opposite of prime land. It sits in the middle of the most socially deprived ward in England where house prices are way, way below the national average. A big wodge of ground rent is far more attractive a proposition than selling 50 houses at £90k each.

Highbury (Arsenal, not Fleetwood) was prime development land: Bloomfield really isn't.

I dont think he'd be allowed to do that, even as the owner. There must be some kind of national heritage law preventing this kind of thing happening.
