IAN Evatt insists the Seasiders’ promotion charge will not be derailed by their West Ham hammering.

The defender points to a Championship table that is as tight as can be.

The Seasiders may have slipped out of the top six but they are still only two points behind third-placed Birmingham.

And because the division is so unpredictable, Evatt knows Pool will be right back in the thick of it with a couple of quick victories.

Evatt said: “There are probably eight to ten teams still in with a chance of promotion. It is really tight and will go down to the wire.

“Nobody is going to run away with it like in previous years. It isn’t going be like two years ago, when we were all miles behind Newcastle and West Brom.

“That is why it is so important we keep on picking up three points when we can and keep the pressure on those around us. Two wins in a row and you are right up near the top again.

“We are confident in our own abilities and we think we can get a play-off place.”
