On 23/07/95 Alan Shearer was just about to put pen to paper on a 5 year deal at Bloomfield Road when Big Sam scuppered the deal and opted for Andy Preece instead.

In the same season, whilst on loan at the club, big Neville Southall had to have his goalkeepers shirt specially made by Jacamo. He still owes Owen Oyston the money for this to this day apparently.

In 1928 four bonfires were lit in the corners of Bloomfield Road at night game versus Bury therfore being the first ever night game at Bloomers.

Upon his death in 1968 Bert Gristlethwaite had been the kit man at Blackpool Fc for 64 years. A record still held in any league to this day.

The remains of 2 German wartime bombers are burried under the hallowed turf of Bloomfield Road. Shot down in 1943 from the top of Blackpool Tower by Gunner Fred Dobbs of Condor Grove aged just 17 at the time.

Anyone else know any bullshit facts about The Mighty?

During the 1982/83 season Blackpool FC fielded what they thought was a registered player named John Butler, only to find out that Karl Oyston had refused to pay postage for his registration forms to be delivered to Football League HQ in St.Annes.

Due to Mr.Oystons notorious spend thrift ways the club were deducted two points, and forced to apply for re-election,upon finding out HIS mistake had cost his Football Club, what could have been their Football League status,Mr.Oyston defended his actions and reaffirmed that he would do the same again, due to the high cost of envelopes & first class stamps.

During a game against Notts County in 1976 a streaker bearing a striking resemblence to our very own RammyBoy caused a delay of 2 hours while the Police decided if he was a male or female. Pool lost 3-1 and were consequently relegated. The streaker was fined two shillings

During the late 60's and the early 70's HRH The Queen was a regular visitor to Bloomfield Road until an altercation with fans of visiting local rivals Preston North End on the pitch. Her Majesty is still to this day serving her ban imposed by Blackpool Magistrates for affray and that is why you never see her at Bloomers anymore.

Due to Pilot error in 1973 Blackpool Fc landed at the wrong Airport in Italy for an Anglo Italian Cup Match away to Roma and had to cycle and run 175 miles to make the kick off on time. Amazingly Blackpool won 4-1 but missed out on their duty frees!

Blackpool FC have contested the Champions League final a total of 9 times, more than any other club, however they've lost out on each of those occasions 147-0 to Alex Higgins.

Some say their Chairman, Karl Oyston, is the stig, some say he definitely isn't.

12 players in total have played for Blackpool FC over the years and been paid, at the same time.

Blackpool were promoted to the premier league at the end of the 2009/10 season, despite being pre-season favourites for the drop and having the smallest budget in the division.

On December 11th 1958 due to financial woes Blackpool players were paid in sticks of Blackpool rock. Two of these sticks owned by the late great Stanley Mathews were recently sold at Auction in Paris for the princely sum of 2 million Euro's!

For the 1968/69 season Blackpool ditched their famous tangerine shirts for a green and banana yellow striped number. This was ditched however after just 3 games after a strongly worded letter from Mr.Jack Grimsdale of Bute Avenue,North Shore.

After 34 consecutive defeats in the 1922/23 season Blackpool refused to sack manager Fred Flump instead shooting him and hiding his body under the old West Stand. His remains were only discovered in 2002 when the old stand was demolished.

In 1934 Blackpool changed their name to Blackpool City but in 1936 had to change it back when amazingly officials of the Club realised Blackpool wasn't a City after all. Club spokesman Bill Payer said with a red face"Blackpool is a Town"

Blackpool goalkeeper Len Pratt became the first English keeper to keep 30 clean sheets in a season in 1961/62. An amazing feat considering he only had one arm,was blind in his left eye and was deaf. He also had flat feet and spoke with a lisp. An epileptic with chronic arthritis and a heart condition.

In 2014 a bath chair of Pool fans went to Bolton twice, Rovers and Burnley.

But Riga might change things.

I only post these sort of comments on here to get response. On Avftt I get that cunt westy having a go, and he gets dogs from the main posters.

They realised that this mummy's placenta is a joker, tries it on with people, who he wouldn't dare stand toe to toe with.

No rant, just pissed off with message board wannabes .

In January 1917,a fire in the west stand, could have been caused by the heating in the dressing room, badly damaged the only structure of note. The entire southern end was completely destroyed along with club records, silver cups and a collection of historical photos because of a northerly wind.

(actually true, can't beat Q's offerings!)

After the team bus broke down en route to Aldershot for a night game in 1986 Blackpool had to field a team made up of supporters who had made the trip. Amazingly Blackpool won 2-1 with Graham Berry smashing home the winner from a pin point cross from Dave Beattie in front of a crowd of 1,895

During a pre season tour of Scotland in 1988 eight Blackpool players were sent home in shame for donning kilts and running down Greenock high Street with no underwear on flashing their bits to all and sundry. It was the first display of trophies in Scotland in 20 years!

Dave Bamber was the most superstitious player ever to don the famous tangerine shirt. His pre match routine involved strange routines such as shaving his left testacle only, applying marmite inbetween his toes and eating two salted jellied eels. He only put his boots on 30 seconds before kick-off and drank 4 pints of Guiness at half-time.

Sir Harry Thomson used to always turn up sober for the match. He never stopped off in the George on his way to the ground

In the 1993-94 season, when yellow & red cards carried a points total, Gary Briggs not only surpassed his teams league points total but surpassed runaway champions Reading's total too........ Despite only playing a handful of games that season!
