When I listen to songs, I always tune in to the bass line. The bass guitar is my favourite instrument, although I cannot play anything :ashamed:

I love the way it pulls all the other instruments together and creates ( for me) the music if you see what I mean.

There have been some great bass guitarists - probably too many to mention, but here are some of my personal favourites;

Bernard Edwards – Chic

Derek Forbes – Simple Minds

Peter Hook – Joy Division

Bruce Thomas - The Attractions (Elvis Costello)

I know Daibo is an excellent cellist, so we can't pick him, but what floats your boat musically?

If I was going to learn one, it would be the piano.

Mike Portnoy from Dream Theatre is one of my favorite band drummers. This may not be everyone's taste in music but this is a great example of how relaxed and fluid he is. The little extras he throws in are superb.

Not sure that there is any specific instrument pulls me into a song or piece of music, but back in the day it was the keyboards that created trhe memorable instrumental parts, Alan Price in the Animals, Ray Manzarek in the Doors and the masters of the keyboard Keith Emerson and Rick Wakeman

James Jamerson on bass guitar. A massive influence behind the Motown sound. His fellow bass player was Bob Babbitt, who was pretty fly for a white guy.

Lead guitar David Evans aka the edge . What he plays on “ where the streets have no name” and “ with or without you” are outstanding

This.

Unfortunately I have no talent in any musical instrument. Even the triangle.

The Edge is a good shout. I'll chuck in Steve Vai, Yngwe Maalmsteen, Zak Wylde too.

I love the sound of flute. Clean, sharp and kind of mesmerizing.

Trumpet.

I do have one but can’t play very well. The little lad and I just hide round the house and scare my Mrs with it!
