Here we are again, almost at the end of the year. And what a year it's been for great new music. A lot of my favourite bands have released new music this year and I've discovered one new band that will be mentioned later.

I've narrowed it down to a top three, but it wasn't easy. Not making the top three, but still releasing superb albums this year include; Haim, Royal Blood, Dan Auerbach, The Pack ad and The Cribs.

3: Death From Above - Outrage Is Now. The fact that my favourite band of all time have released an album this year and it only makes number 3 is an indication of how good albums 1 & 2 are. The Toronto duos 3rd album is just as fast and furious as always.

2: Milburn - Time. After 9 years away, Sheffield's finest release their best album yet. Full of indie singalongs that deserve to be heard by a wider audience.

1: The Big Moon - Love in the Fourth Dimension. 4 girls from that there London who released their debut album in April. I only heard of them when they were nominated for the Mercury Prize in summer. They have made a pretty much perfect album of modern indie pop. Ignore all the albums I've mentioned if you want, but I implore you to give TBM a listen.

I'm extremely passionate about my choices, so convince me that yours deserve a listen.

Just like me with my number one pick until six months ago. Give em all a listen.

Just had a listen to a couple of TBM's songs, not too bad at all. I do rather like The Road.

Keep listening Louise. Mrs C wasn't that keen when I first played them to her, but she is now their biggest fan.

Didn't listen to enough new releases but probably drunk by Thundercat for me.

Ooooh

Bit too synth-a-fied for me, but this kicks in a treat.

It reminds me of The Chemical Brothers, especially the salmon dance.

I think the last album I was compelled to go out and buy was Substance by New Order back in 1987. Nothing else mattered after that.

Went to see The Cribs last night with Mrs C and they didn't disappoint. 3rd time we've seen them, but this was the first time in a tiny venue. We ended up on the front row and it was awesome (though our hearing may never recover).

Q, they're from Wakefield and have been around for 15 plus years. If you aren't bang into them, then you can't consider yourself a true Yorkshire man. Forget New Order records in the 80's, these fellas are home grown superheroes.
