Well Bowyer told Koko in the last transfer deadline that he would have to strengthen in January, he wasn't wrong.

What's one of these?

Whatever happens Gary B will be very happy.

Koko burst out laughing, he wasn't wrong.

If nothing else, it will be a good indicator on whether Bowyer has anything to play with or not.

I predict that we will bring in one or two loan players but will also lose Longstaff.

Why would you want them to spend anything? I'd say if they spend money then it's less likely they're leaving.

I’d agree.

I think the O’s will adopt a NAPM stance.

Ha Ha, how ironic.

Strengthening the playing squad will be the last thing on their minds, irrelevant of their plans to sell.

LMAO money for the squad.... No chance. Expect Owen to invest heavily in the Cayman isles.

The only ones to come in will be the bailiffs.

Good news I guess.

Manager Gary Bowyer said:

“I’m delighted that we’ve been able to get the deal done, and I’d like to thank Newcastle for allowing Sean to continue his development with us. He’s benefitting from playing week in, week out and he’s got six goals, which is an incredible return for someone of his age.

“He’s still growing and if you’d have took a picture of him when he first arrived to a picture of him now, you’d see the development in his body as well. When he does finally grow into his body and gets the power there, he is going to be some player.”

Sean Longstaff added:

“I’ve enjoyed my time here so far, I’ve played or been a part of pretty much every game apart from two, I think. It’s been perfect for me, I’ve settled in really well, all the lads are great and all the staff have been great with me.

“I’m happy to get it over the line and I’m looking forward to the second half of the season.”

Blackpool thought to be interested in another Newcastle youngster - 22-year-old right-back Jamie Sterry.

Poor lad

Not sure why we need a right back as have Mellor and Turton can play there as cover even though he is now the first choice leftback.
RE: The Great 2018 January Transfer Thread.

Probably planning to sell one or both of them.

I imagine Mellor might have suitors. Same league but better money and conditions at other clubs !

I was going to say a new signing warrants a separate thread but a keeper swap probably doesn't!

Sounds like it was needed as Alsop and Williams have been much criticised. The keeper who has played recently seems to have done ok though.

Has to be an improvement on Alldrop. Good luck to the lad if he can dive with his arms fully extended he will replace Williams.

Wonder what boneys up to? Young keeper doesn't seem to be getting much of a chance

We have two adequate keepers as far as I am concerned....

Personally, I'd take Lumley over both. No hard feelings, Smith. You've been great recently.

"It just happened to be Blackpool typical, are next game!

We will batter them and not be able to score and lose 1 - 0, Lumley man of the match.

Ballbags!!! "

That's a shame as Lumley's worth six points to them in half a season...

I doubt he will play. Would be a bit harsh dropping Maofambi or whatever he is called.

On the subject of keepers, am I correct in thinking that in the 70/71 season we played 5 keepers, not all at once of course, namely Neil Ramsbottom, Harry Thomson, Adam Blacklaw, Alan Taylor and a very young John Burridge right at the end of the season.

No windows then, just an open door policy.
