Great team of the 70s

I can probably name more players in that pic, than I could in any team pic since

There's even one player on there that I first played against at Junior School level.

Guess who?

Indeed.

Hadn’t George Wood and Mickey Walsh left before we were relegated?

I can’t connect because it’s too far back for me but one thing that does stand out emotionally is just how fucked up the current situation is.

I wonder how that team would be thinking if they could foresee today’s car crash?

A little embarrassed asking this but, would anyone be kind enough to list the players please?

I can only name five of them.

GW had left but MW along with P Hart, B Hatton and A Ainscow left during the close season of 78.

We had completed our fixtures and on leaving Brighton (our last match) never dreamt the results of the following couple of weeks would mean relegation, it just didn't appear to be possible.

I remember that time. How we went down was near impossible. To this day I think there was skullduggery involved

We had 37 points, equivalent to 49 now and 54 or so in a 46 game season. Seven teams had 38. Six of them had a worse g/d than us.

Not a sponsors name in sight. How refreshing but sadly dated.

Good job they are packed in so tight on the middle row. Else Mr Wood may have found the task of standing beyond him. :D

Was that the year where we went down after a dodgy result involving Cardiff?

Cardiff v Orient I think, Long before my time like!
RE: Just seen this on FB

If my memory is correct it was Orient's only away win of the season, quite unexpected and I was listening to the radio, took a long time to sink in that we had been relegated with that team, oh dear Mr Cartmell.

Back row next to BH Dave Hockaday and Brian Wilson next to SMc

Middle Row I think is Larrie Milligan not 100% dont know who the other on the middle row is.

Front row Steve Harrison next to Billy Ronson
