Has just been appointed as manager of Fleetwood Town! I could've sworn that April Fools Day was weeks ago ...:scratch_chin:

Think he’ll do a good job but that is the most bizarre appointment I’ve seen in a while

Not a fan of the bloke , but he stood up to the oyscum and paid the price.

He was looking at getting his money back after the last trial.

Good or bad move ? I don’t know. He’s no record in management

Would have thought this kills the Pilley rumours then...

Pilley obviously believes Fleetwood can still move forward as a club. Very doubtful in my opinion.

As Jonathan Liew (a good journo) pointed out on Twitter, Barton has no experience, and has been known as one of the most hot-headed players in the country with a poor disciplinary record. Yet he got the job with no application process because he's mates with the owner. I think I'll remember this next time we're debating why the Rooney Rule is needed.

I will say this about Joey, wherever he played he was a fans favourite who gave his all on the pitch. Despite attracting the wrong kind of headlines his passion for the game and the fact that he wasn't a bad player always kept him in work. FTFC will not be dull with Joey around.

Remember seeing him tweeting about being on the UEFA PRO License course a few years back so it’s clearly always been in the plans for him
