Looking forward to the WC and any possible upsets.

I am old enough to remember the USA beating England 1-0 that was some shock result and over the years there have been a few.

Remember in 66 when North Korea beat Italy in the later stages and how they were leading Portugal 3-0 before finally being beaten.

South Korea not to be outdone also beat Italy, not sure when that was and the very enthusiastic Cameroon who managed an unexpected win over Argentina.

I am fairly certain South Africa had a fine result over France although cannot remember the match in question.

Some of the less fancied countries really can upset the form book , their enthusiasm for being at the finals

and being so proud to represent their countries, usually it is fitness towards the end of the matches being their downfall.

Looking forward to the event.

Definitely the least excited I've been for a world cup. Pretty sure will get into it when it's on. It might actually be nice having no expectations with England and can just enjoy the matches without feel bitter and twisted when England go out.

Quick quiz question about Italia 90....

Four Countries qualified for the finals that don’t exist anymore. Can you name them?

Peru are my outsiders this year, play some quality stuff.

Argentina will either go out in the group stage or win the whole thing imo, they have so much fragility it genuinely would be Messi single-handedly dragging them there if they did it.

I just want England to get past the group stage. That last debacle; last in the group with one point, really put a damper on the rest of the tournament.

I'll cheer for Iceland because I'm a romantic and also get caught up in Mexico fever around here.

I think France will be in the semis.

Check out the Euro 96 team and how much passion they had. Southgate, Pearce and Adams, brilliant.

Message from UK Highways ...

Due to a small football game this evening at Elland Road we expect the #M621 and surrounding routes to be particularly busy. To assist fans travelling to and from the game, we will not be closing any lanes tonight for the ongoing #M621Works

Also, saw the England squad up at Oulton Hall earlier whilst stopping by for a coffee with a colleague.

This means they'll definitely win the world cup.

I see Southgate is going to change most of the team for tonight's friendly. So he's going to wait for the world cup tournament itself before he picks the same team so the players can get an understanding between each other. No wonder England never win anything

I reckon the horse-faced penalty expert knows exactly what he's doing.

That defence is like a Stoke City defence.

A good opportunity for some of those players to impress. Rashford, Arnold, Loftus-Cheek and Delph spring to mind.

In Brazil we managed an embarrassing 0-0 draw. Fuck me, that was a boring match.

I could see this going either way 0-0, 1-0, 0-1.
