I wouldn't be surprised if Shaun felt that the mess in football was getting too big for him to deal with. There is no way he has enjoyed all the criticism EFL has faced during the past few seasons.
Positive news overall - definitely needs someone fresh to give it a kick up the arse. The only slight negative is that Blackpool supporters had a meeting with Shaun and the impression I got is that they would review the Belokon situation. With him now leaving, will this make that more difficult? Of course, that assumes Belokon wants to buy Blackpool which is highly unlikely.
Rumor has it he's been offered role in the Harry Enfield update on Tory Boy.
