Getting praise from the Northern Ireland boss.

"There were some really good performances from the young boys," O'Neill said.

"I thought Jordan Thompson was terrific and overall we're delighted to come through the game with a win and we've managed to avoid any injuries.

"Some of these youngsters are still some way away from playing in international matches on a regular basis, especially as some of them are only 18 or 19 years old.

"They're still establishing themselves so they're certainly ones for the future, but Jordan Thompson is one for now.

"I was impressed by his energy and his quality of his passing."

For me, he stood out from the few games I saw during the boycott and he is one of the first names on the teamsheet now. I really do think we have a potential star in the making. He will only get better with better players around him.

Agree or getting carried away?

I rate Thompson.  I think he, like a couple of others, will improve with decent coaching, game experience and time.
Disappointing that the Northern Ireland manager has dropped Thompson tonight against Germany after praising him. Was looking forward to watching how he does!
