Luton Town v Blackpool

League One
Sat 6th Apr 2019 - KO 15:00
Kenilworth Road Stadium

Stats

Luton have lost just one of their last 15 home games in all competitions against Blackpool (W11 D3), with Blackpool's most recent visit coming in May 2017, a 3-3 draw in the League Two play-off semi-final second leg.

Since losing six successive encounters with Luton between December 2003 and April 2017, Blackpool have remained unbeaten in the last three (W1 D2), drawing 0-0 in the reverse fixture.

Since the start of last season, only Manchester City (187) have scored more goals than Luton (172) in the top four tiers of English football.

Blackpool have gone eight consecutive games without a clean sheet in League One - their longest run without one since between November 2017 and January 2018 (also eight).

Jack Stacey has made more assists than any other defender in League One this season (7), while he's also made the most of any Luton player.

Team News

League One leaders Luton should have striker Danny Hylton back in contention for the visit of Blackpool.

Hylton, who had scored on each of his last two appearances, missed the win at Bristol Rovers because of a knee problem but has been able to return to training.

Alan McCormack is hoping to step up his rehabilitation from a hamstring problem, which has seen the veteran midfielder miss the past three games, but remains a doubt. Defenders Dan Potts and Glen Rea continue their recovery from knee injuries.

Blackpool boss Terry McPhillips reported no fresh injury concerns as they prepare to tackle the promotion-chasing Hatters. Midfielders Harry Pritchard and Nya Kirby are options, along with forward Chris Long, after coming off the bench for last weekend's late 2-2 draw at home against Plymouth.

Defenders Ollie Turton, Donervon Daniels and midfielder Callum Guy all featured in a midweek behind-closed-doors friendly, so could come into contention following fitness issues. The Seasiders remain without long-term absentees midfielder Jimmy Ryan, forward Max Clayton and goalkeeper Mark Howard.

Manager Thoughts

The  last time I visited Luton was 60 years ago for  a replay in the FA cup when Allan Brown our ex player scored the one and only goal to send Luton  through.

Incidentally any reason for the 1400 ko.?

Good spot. Will check BBC as that is a bit weird.

Never been to Luton's ground and I expect I'm not alone there. Won't be many Pool fans there as we have sent a lot back and Luton have resold them to home fans.

It's 3pm. Someone hasn't put their clocks forward. Might be the live score app itself but will check with Steed.

Saying 15:00 on here.

I’ve been to Luton a few times. I’ve always seen us win there too. The ground is as shit as the town!
They are getting a new one I think. They've had a hell of a rise from the Conference in the last few years. Never liked them though for some reason.
Time has been updated

So anyone going tomorrow? Predictions?

Luton seem like an unstoppable force at present so I will go with 3-0 Luton and 290 Blackpool fans.
No not going, draw 2-2 and 450 fans
Having read what their fans are saying about us on the other thread, I hope Pool spank them 4-0.

They need a good slap.

A lot different from from what the Wolves fans were saying when we met few in the pub on the way home from a match. Nothing but compliments on getting rid of Oyston.

They stole our kit one year😮

Looks as though they are struggling with their identity.

Real tough away game, stats show a 2-0 lose. Hope its a bit tighter than that - stats

Just seen a few Southend fans on Blackpool front. They are away at Fleetwood today.

Any radio links (free) 🤓
Doubt it on the internet. Radio Lancs on the old wireless.

I hate to say it but I have a bad feel about today’s game.

4, even 5-1

I hope I’m wrong & win on the National instead.

Happy with that team.

Baptiste on the bench for Luton.
Pleased Kirby has been given a start, he  will rattle the Hatters.

Definitely. Thompson would have been the person to replace Evans but happy Kirby has got a chance.

Just realised they were probably Sheff Utd fans as they are at Preston. Both are SUFC. Too many of them to be Southend.

Get in 1-1 kirby
Just equalised 1-1
