Blackpool v Wolves U21

EFL Trophy
Tue 5th Nov 2019 - KO 19:45
Bloomfield Road

A place in the knockout stages of the Leasing.com Trophy is at stake tonight, as Blackpool host Wolves' Under-21s.

The Seasiders, currently on three points in Group G, know that a victory would see them progress and leapfrog tonight's visitors at the summit.

A strong performance would also banish a disappointing defeat to Carlisle United last time out in the competition.

As for Wolves, they have taken five points from two matches, beating Carlisle 4-2 and drawing 2-2 with Morecambe, prior to winning a bonus point in a penalty shoot-out.

Ex-Pool defender Rob Edwards was in charge for those fixtures, however he has now departed his position for a role at the Football Association. Mark Kennedy is now overseeing proceedings in the dugout.

Team News

Blackpool could make a number of changes for the fixture, with the likes of Callum Guy and Joe Nuttall seeking valuable game-time. Curtis Tilt is now available again following suspension, while 'keeper Mark Howard is eligible to play after completing an emergency loan spell with Salford City.

The Manager's View

"It’s another football match that we want to win. I want to get through and get into the next round, then we will turn our attention to Morecambe in the FA Cup on Saturday.

“Regardless of who plays in what competition, you have to play with the intensity we played with on Saturday. If you do that, you’ve got the signs of a successful football club."

Surely we can beat an under 21 team? Big game for Joe Nuttall perhaps to impress.

Big it up! Put a lot of effort in this match day thread!

Strong team! Surprised Virtue and MacDonald are starting.

Turton in midfield and Rocky at wing back?

Wolves should be 1 up a terrible mistake from Tilt They hit the post

Sounds like getting battered. They've already hit the post twice.

7 - Post! Curtis Tilt gives the ball straight to Benny Ashley-Seal, who opens his body and curls an effort onto the foot of the post (0-0)

Sounds like we have ended the half better.

That was 4,000 last year under Oyston 😮
Maybe ended on top at the end of first half but never looked like scoring. Too many players lacking in confidence

They have just hit the post again. Hardie will come good. We should be signing this midfielder Elliot Watt he’s 19 and looks a good player. He’s from Preston though 😂😂

Can't believe they've hit the post three times. Not a good sign.

Tonight's attendance is 1,036 (87 Wolves)

Maddison misses a pen for Peterborough at Shrewsbury. 1-0 Shrews.

Hardie needs to take his chances!

Sounds like Callum MacDonald has had a decent game again.

Don’t pretend you don’t know 😮

Refs just booked Hardie for being shite😮

Kaikai on for Scannell.

Unfair to judge Scannell when not seen the game but not been impressed with him in other games I've seen.

Cleared off the line in the last minute. Pool could have won it
Rocky in injury time
Wembley!

Go Rocky

The shirt off celebration in the tinpot Cup group stage.

I think I love him.

In other news, attendances have been great and I'm finally correct with my prediction of 7!
