Reading v Blackpool

FA Cup
Sat 4th Jan 2020 - KO 15:01
Adams Park

Blackpool’s travels continue on Saturday, as the Seasiders head to Championship side Reading in the Emirates FA Cup third round.

Simon Grayson’s men have beaten League Two’s Morecambe and National League South side, Maidstone United to get to this stage of the FA Cup, with Reading entering at this stage.

The Seasiders come up against an in-form Royals, who have won eight of the 14 matches since Mark Bowen took charge as manager in mid-October. Reading have in fact won their last four matches heading into the game, narrowly beating Fulham at Craven Cottage on New Years Day.

Romanian striker George Puscas is the club’s leading goal scorer with seven goals so far this season, with Yakou Meite, Lucas Joao and John Swift all getting in amongst the goals too.

Both sides last met at Bloomfield Road back in April 2015, with Reading’s Grant Hall cancelling out Jamie O’Hara’s first half penalty to share the spoils in a 1-1 draw. Saturday's game, however, is the first time both sides have met in the FA Cup.

The kick-off time for the match at the Madejski Stadium is 3:01pm. All 32 FA Cup ties this weekend will kick off a minute later than usual to encourage fans to ‘Take A Minute’ to think about looking after their mental health, as part of the Heads Up campaign.

Team News:

Jak Alnwick has been ruled out for 12 weeks with an arm injury. New signings Grant Ward and Jordan Thorniley could be involved from the bench, having trained with the squad over the past couple of days.

Reading could make a few changes to their side, with Mark Bowen eager to give bit-part players some game time.

The Referee:

John Brooks will officiate the game.

Admittance:

Tickets will be available on the day of the game from the away turnstiles for the following price:

    £15 for Adults
    £10 for 65 and Over

Hopefully the new signings can get some minutes.

Yeah, if anything it gives them some introductory minutes.

I feel this game has come at the wrong time for us.

Team: Howard, Heneghan, Delfouneso, Spearing, Feeney, Tilt, Virtue, Turton, Gnanduillet, Guy, Macdonald.

Subs: Edwards, Hardie, Kaikai, Nuttall, Husband, Ward, Sims.

Team news

Ward on the bench. No Thorniley. Jordan Thompson not in squad which is strange. No Charlie Adam for them.

Tilt and McDonald getting a chance.

Presume it's a 4-5-1 with Fonz and Feeney on the wing. Could also be a 5-3-2 with Turton at centre half and Feeney at wing back.

UTMP

Nice to see MacDonald get a chance.

Come on Pool!

Nobbers 1 down already.
Apparently barely got out of our own half.
7 shots to 1 but we've just scored!
Get in Fonz
Fans making some good noise
Were due a cup run
Come on !  There's no way we're going too far but another round would mean more money to spend on players.

That was unlucky from Guy

Deflection saved them a second
