Blackpool v Southend United

League One
Sat 8th Feb 2020 - KO 15:00
Bloomfield Road

Blackpool welcome Southend United on Saturday, looking to put recent poor form behind them.

The Seasiders haven’t tasted victory in ten matches, and will be looking for the recent influx of new signings throughout January to secure the all important three points this time around.

A total of 11 players could potentially make home debuts tomorrow, with Grant Ward the only winter arrival to have taken to the pitch at Bloomfield Road to date.

As for Southend, the club currently lie deep in a relegation battle with 16 matches to go. The club sit in 22nd place, 12 points clear of safety, having only tasted victory three times in the league this season. The club are in relatively good form however, winning two of their last three matches against Accrington Stanley and Lincoln City, respectively.

Blackpool will be looking to do the double over Southend tomorrow, having secured a comfortable 3-1 victory at Roots Hall in the reverse fixture back in August. Nathan Delfouneso scored a brace along with a Southend own goal securing the three points.

Team News

Sullay Kaikai remains sidelined for the Seasiders. James Husband and Ryan Edwards, who have been out injured for the past few weeks, could make a return. Jak Alnwick continues to be sidelined.

As for Southend, John White and Harry Phillips are out through injury.

That's the spirit. Don't think Nuttall will start though.
4-0 Ben Garrity scores 3 and wins a penalty that Gnanduillet dinks down the middle to set the North Stand going wild!

Scarves out the window, excitement building.....match day! Pumped. Hopefully Southend bring a decent firm, been a while since I had some action.

Southend once brought a few up for a play off game and they were chanting “ Sea Sea Seasiders”  The only other team I’ve ever heard copy our chant. Boro were close with their “Tee Tee Teesside’s “

I'm so sorry Seasider, there's nothing worse than not having any action. Have you tried taking the matter into your own hands?

You have to otherwise you will feel dissatisfied. Southend better watch out.
Taking  my 12 year old lad for the first time since the last Southend home game - they'd better win!!!!! I'm trying  to reignite his love for the game which has disappeared over the last few years - fingers crossed

Apart from winning, hope team play good football for you  regular fans.

So, new signings have had a little bit of time to settle in. Closed-door game during the week, bit of a breather for some. At home against a struggling side. Hopefully, hopefully there'll be some positive and attacking football today.

No excuses today!
Nobbers winning away at Wigan. That's always a sign of shit day.

Looks a 4-4-2 actually with Ronan on the left.
We have a formation !
A lot more quality on the pitch, just the final ball. Southend are really bad though.
Atmosphere is so flat. Southend a bit more in the game now.
Gone shit. Giving the ball away. Southend look the more likely and they are shit!
Good old combo of Feeney and Gnanduillet. Great cross from Feeney.

Goal! Blackpool 1, Southend United 0. Armand Gnanduillet (Blackpool) header from very close range to the top left corner. Assisted by Liam Feeney with a cross.

 Is that our plan A , B, C ?
We are going up!
Very comfortable game or it feels like that. Maybe as there is fuck all to play. We look good in patches but not good enough for long periods. Taylor Moore and Conor Ronan stand out so the quality has definitely improved. Should really win this at a canter if we improve going forward.
