I think you're right. I remember they scrapped emergency loans a little while back as well.
Let's hope for no more injuries then, squad's already looking a bit frail...
Evatt was originally a loan signing. And yeah, 8 is the maximum and five in a matchday squad. With a couple of signings really not working you'd think it's the logical solution. What is the loan window nowadays?
I didn't rate the referee at all; the Spearing tackle where he clearly won the ball and another similar one not too long after that (forgotten which of our players, blame the ale) spring to mind. Didn't seem in control of play. Although their fans weren't exactly pleased with him so I'd put it down to him just being poor, rather than biased.
Defence looked very shaky, I also thought Nuttall looked out of his depth and constantly frustrated. I was surprised he took Gnands off as we all know he's the man to nick a goal / carve one out of nothing. Bad day the office all round...
Fonz seemed to have a few choice words with Phil Horner when subbed off, presumably rushed back?
Few observations this morn after going yesterday. Firstly, great game - feared the worst after going 2-0 down, reminiscent of being at that toothless Burton Albion away game from last year and suspected the result would be very much the same.
Also, I think Guy could be important as long as he keeps fit (although I'd take some strengthening in midfield over what we currently have). Even if that's coming on from the bench. In my opinion, watching yesterday, he's one of the key reasons we got back on top - it was a scrappy game for large parts and he was more effective tidying up and winning the ball in there than Fonz was looking early on (very different opinion to Ger's, I know). In fact, I think it was shaping up to be one of those where Fonz is given no time on the ball and can be frozen out of the game a bit.
Yes, they scored the second soon after he'd been subbed on but we took control of the game soon after right up until they started piling it on in the last 5-10 mins.
One worry was all it took for them to be in was a ball down the flanks in behind our full-backs (with Rocky being prime suspect). They were good on the break and in that last 5-10 min spell it happened four or five times with our defence being caught short on numerous occasions. Anderton coming on didn't help - he's one of those (and we sign them every now and then) that just doesn't look like a natural footballer when on the ball.
Some positives and negatives, but genuinely exciting to be following the team properly again. I didn't think I'd be saying this when booking tickets for The Ashes at Headingley this weekend way back in September 2018, but I'm a bit gutted not to be doing Rochdale away!
